The band’s live show is a tour de force. Mokoomba’s manager Marcus Gora spoke with us from Harare April 4th saying: “Mokoomba are on their way to the US as I type, they are bringing a show that has a lot of new music that will feature in their upcoming album that they have started to record in studio the past week. It has a lot traditional rhythms and dance elements that have been incorporated in the set and it still maintains a lot of energy and excitement.”

The band’s music draws on their rich cultural heritage as well as the cosmopolitan music scene in Victoria Falls, integrating pan-African influences fused with roots and traditional rhythms. Bassist Abundance Mutori says that Latin, soukous and rock are influences that can be heard in their music, but the core rhythms are traditional passed on by elders. The North American tour consists of 15 dates, and continues in Europe through the summer months before returning to Zimbabwe where they will record the new album.
